Best Time for a Desert Safari in Qatar (Month by Month)
Mild winters, hot summers and golden-hour light: how to pick the best month — and the best time of day — for your Qatar desert safari.

The short answer
The best months for a desert safari in Qatar are October to April, when daytime temperatures are pleasant. The best time of day is the afternoon: an early-to-mid afternoon start lets you enjoy the dunes as the heat fades and finish at the Inland Sea around sunset.
Month by month
- October – November: warm days, cooling evenings — an excellent time to go
- December – February: the coolest weather; bring a light jacket for the evening
- March – April: comfortable and clear, with long golden-hour light
- May – September: very hot and humid — choose the latest departure and expect shorter stops outside
Sunset or half day?
Our half-day safari and sunset safari follow a similar route; the sunset departure is timed so you reach the Inland Sea in the best light. If photography matters, choose sunset. If you are travelling with young children, the early-afternoon half-day safari is often easier.
For a longer adventure, the overnight camp adds dinner, stargazing and a quiet sunrise.
What to wear and bring
- Light, loose clothing and sunglasses
- Sunscreen and a hat
- A light layer for winter evenings
- Swimwear and a towel if you hope to paddle at the Inland Sea
